I am a journalist — a writer, a reporter, an editor — explaining
the news and current issues in publications around the world.
My byline can be found in The New York
Times,
Inc., Time,
Crain’s Chicago Business, The Wall Street
Journal and The Wall Street Journal Europe,
to name a few places. If The Economist
used bylines, my name would appear there, too.
People share their stories with me – their passions,
their dreams, their plans for change. I interview corporate
executives and activists; politicians and ministers; laborers
and entrepreneurs. I tend to like them all, and I take personally the job of accurately expressing their personalities and opinions in print.

I cover all sorts of subjects, including politics, entrepreneurship,
travel and corporate business. I love a story with a moral dilemma,
a strong personality or the need for good description, regardless
of topic.
I have gathered stories from many places, including Houston and
Dublin, rural Alabama and the City of London. I have lived in European
cities and small-town Texas. My home now is St. Petersburg, Florida,
a place I usually enjoy very much.
I pride myself on crafting copy that fits the publication rather
than my own ego. And I think deadlines are sacrosanct.
